The Glasgow Eastern Merchants’ & Tradesmens’ Society (GEM) is proud to have donated a £27,598.82 grant awarded to Whiteinch & Scotstoun Housing Association which they have used to build a state-of-the-art kitchen at The Whiteinch Centre.

Designed as an active, multipurpose hub, the new kitchen space supports hands-on cooking classes, community workshops, and group gatherings. To boost engagement across the building, the facility features an internal viewing window—allowing visitors throughout The Whiteinch Centre to see live demonstrations and classes in progress, inspiring broader community participation.
The official unveiling of the new kitchen took place during The Whiteinch Centre’s 20th Anniversary Celebration in September 2026.
For two decades, The Whiteinch Centre has served as a cornerstone for local residents, delivering essential support, learning opportunities, and dynamic social spaces.
“Rooted in our 19th-century foundation, GEM remains dedicated to uplifting lives and fostering long-term social change across Glasgow. Investing in projects like this new kitchen ensures our local centres remain vibrant, welcoming spaces where communities can learn, share, and thrive together.”
John A Ferguson, The Glasgow Eastern Merchants & Tradesmen’s Society Chairman
